Set up your first tracking network
By the end of this guide you'll have devices registered and location data flowing.
Step 1: Get your account
Contact Blecon to get started. The Blecon team will set up your Track workspace and Blecon Network — you'll receive an invite email that guides you through signing in.
Once you're in, your workspace is ready to go with a network already linked.
Step 2: Get your hardware
You need:
- Devices — Bluetooth beacons or smart labels to attach to the assets you want to track. See Supported devices or order from the Blecon Shop.
- Hotspots — Receivers that detect your devices. The Blecon Agent turns a phone into a hotspot (it runs automatically in the background once installed), or you can use fixed hotspots from the Blecon Shop.
Step 3: Register a device
- Open Blecon Track.
- Go to Assets and click Add.
- Enter the device ID (printed on the device label or found via scanning).
- Click Register.
See Register and scan devices for more options including bulk registration and QR scanning.
Step 4: Set up a hotspot
- Power on your fixed hotspot, or install the Blecon Agent on your phone.
- The Agent runs automatically in the background — once installed, it turns your phone into a hotspot that connects to Blecon and begins scanning for nearby devices.
Step 5: Verify data is flowing
Your registered device should appear on the live map within a few minutes of being in range of a hotspot.
You now have a working tracking network. Next: Track your first device on the map.
