Monitor zone capacity

Set up alert rules that trigger when a zone has too many or too few assets.

Prerequisites

  • A Blecon Track workspace with tracked devices
  • At least one zone configured with devices reporting positions inside it

Step 1: Create a zone asset count rule

  1. Go to Alert Rules and click Create Rule.
  2. Select Zone Asset Count as the rule type.
  3. Choose the zone to monitor.
  4. Select the condition:
  5. Below — Alert when count drops below a minimum (e.g., "ER needs at least 5 wheelchairs").
  6. Above — Alert when count exceeds a maximum (e.g., "loading bay over capacity").
  7. Outside range — Alert when count is below a minimum or above a maximum.
  8. Set the threshold value.
  9. Click Create.

Step 2: Monitor across multiple zones with tags

To apply the same capacity rule to many zones:

  1. Tag all relevant zones with the same tag (e.g., parking).
  2. When creating the rule, select Zone Tags instead of a specific zone.
  3. Enter the tag. The rule evaluates each tagged zone independently.

Result

When a zone's asset count crosses the threshold, a violation appears. It clears automatically when the count returns to the acceptable range.
